As much as Kim’s Angels was a spur of the moment idea, it had been in the works for years.

In 2004, Nadine, the president of Kim’s Angels, lost her mother to an all too short battle with lung cancer. Her mother, Kim, had promised to help other cancer patients if she lived through her own battle. When Kim passed away, Nadine took the promise on as her own.

In 2008, Nadine’s eldest son presented with a swollen lymph gland and a very low count of white blood cells. His pediatrician immediately sent him over to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH) to be seen by the hematology clinic for further testing. Nadine knew that these symptoms were a common finding in leukemia patients, and went through a week of fear before her son was finally seen at LPCH. Thankfully, her son was not diagnosed with leukemia, but two smaller and non-threatening health conditions. One of the conditions is a fairly rare blood disease, which has changed her families life.

After making the promise on her mothers behalf, and then seeing the fear parents go through with a sick child, Nadine knew she needed to do something for the parents who received the dreaded news that their child had cancer.

In 2009, Nadine hosted an event for the St. Baldrick’s foundation, raising $4,749.00 for childhood cancer research. Following that event, Nadine knew she could do bigger and better things with organizing events to raise funds for childhood cancer and blood diseases.

It was then that Nadine put together Kim’s Angels, named after her mother. It is Nadine’s hope that this organization can raise funds for worthy causes. Her initial hope was to simply raise funds for children’s hospitals hematology and oncology clinics so the funds will be immediately seen by the families of these children. Now she hopes to do all sorts of events for worthy causes of all sorts. She simply wants to help people by making them realize they do matter and by letting them know that there are people who care and who want to help.
